Susan Perez

Coach

Susan is an Education Empowerment Coach who assists parents and students by empowering them to take a stand for their family’s Christian values in education and in the world.

Susan has over forty years of experience in education as a teacher, administrator, college instructor, and superintendent. She has served as a Curriculum Consultant and has helped failing schools become successful by focusing on the most important aspects of education.

She was awarded Pharmacy Tech Teacher in Excellence Award during her tenure as a Pharmacy Tech teacher for eight years, and a number of her former students are currently successful Pharmacists. Susan has served on textbooks committees and is investigating why schools are no longer requiring textbooks, since the lack of textbooks greatly increases the possibility of indoctrination.

She served as the Texas Higher Education Board Member for Health Sciences and on the EMT subcommittee. She was selected as one of two Texas teachers to attend the Health Science National Consortium and went on to present the following year at the Health Science National Consortium in 2016, where she shared an innovative unit called “Know Your Heart.”

As a school Superintendent, she used grant money to hire four fine-arts teachers that met with the elementary teachers weekly and discussed the objective for the week. Great outcomes resulted, including a tremendous increase in parent involvement and increased individual tutoring for struggling students. The Coca-Cola Valued Youth Program was implemented, which paid at-risk high school students to each tutor three at-risk elementary students. This gave the high school students a review of skills, as well as a modest income. This also gave the elementary students weekly tutoring by a caring mentor. As a result, achievement test scores at this failing school went from one-year-below grade level to one-year-above grade level in just three years!

Susan believes the most critical needs in education right now are parents’ involvement and voicing their Christian values. By doing so, they can reclaim a solid education for their students. Susan coaches clients on Ten Things to Know, including excellent resources regarding Critical Race Theory, 1619 Project, and Social-Emotional Learning. She also coaches clients on Ten Things to Say, empowering them to escalate their ability to stand up to bullying, intimidation, and verbal attacks, as illustrated in the Bible when David spoke out against Goliath, or Jesus’ response to the money changers in the Temple. As a result of her coaching and empowerment, Susan has a group of like-minded, determined women who have implemented Ten Things to Do. They are meeting with school administrators in Texas to get answers regarding Governor Abbott’s list of 800 Inappropriate Library Books, and what is happening next, as a result of this list. Most importantly, she coaches her clients on Ten Ways to Insulate their Children and Grandchildren from the indoctrination so prevalent in society today.

Susan’s ability to give parents their voice in education creates life-altering outcomes, not only for her clients and their families, but also for those impacted by this positive change!

What People Are Saying:

Kathy Chauncey

"I wasn’t sure I had the time to commit to making a difference in education. As I researched the topic I was overwhelmed with the findings and felt the need to get involved. Under Susan’s guidance I met with two other ladies on weekly zoom sessions. We received a variety of information about what is happening in education locally, statewide, and nationally. One of our first assignments was to interview 4 parents or teachers. My interviewees were all teachers currently or in the past. They all had children or grandchildren in public schools. On the issue of Separation of Church and State, I was surprised that they all had a little confusion as whether that issue was in the Constitution (It is not). They also shared interesting information on teasing/bullying in the schools. Susan’s training provided us with valuable resources and support on how to interact with the school system to provide information and to bring about change."

Anne Ivey

"I really wanted to make a difference in education, but felt helpless. I signed up for Susan’s class in hopes I would get some ideas of how to get involved. She challenged me to take a stand based on my own personality style. She taught me how to up my game on “smack talk” like David did with Goliath, based on my Christian beliefs. I also learned how to overcome negative thoughts about my ability to make a difference using a biblical technique to change my mental thought patterns and resulting actions. Then I was expected to pick a topic, time, and place to actually take a stand and change something in education around me to make it better!"

Lynda Farabee

"I have been out of education for a good 20 years. I wondered what I could do to influence anyone in education, but decided I had to do something because of my grandchildren and their education. I particularly enjoyed the personality assessment as it helped me better interact with others. I wasn’t sure what to focus on to make a difference in education. I met with Susan in a series of 6 small-group sessions. We learned a lot about 10 Things to Know, 10 Things to Say, 10 Things to Do and 10 Ways to Insulate Your (Grand)Children. As a group we surveyed parents and teachers. I searched through my school's online card catalog to identify any books that were not age appropriate or too explicit in content. The school has developed a plan to keep these books in a separated place. We also now have an appointment with our local superintendent to give and get input on serious education topics. I am excited that we are making a difference and have support to do so."
